Erika Hall, Jane of all Trades
Erika Hall is indeed a remarkable asset to the MODERN Dermatology office, serving as the Jane of all Trades and bearing an uncanny resemblance to Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years. Since joining forces with Dr. Thosani as her Mohs Histotechnician in 2015, Erika's dedication and expertise have proven indispensable. With the establishment of MODERN Dermatology in October 2022, her responsibilities have expanded beyond the confines of the Mohs Lab. From overseeing administrative tasks to providing invaluable support to our medical professionals, her role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities that contribute to the success of our clinic. Erika holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts Theatre, specializing in Stage Management from ASU. She worked as a stage manager for local productions and even toured nationally with Peter and the Wolf. Outside of work, Erika enjoys motherhood and camping with her boys, Wyatt and Xander. She also has two furry companions, Arlo and True. She supports her husband's Theatre Company and contributes to the arts community. Erika brings professionalism, versatility, and genuine care to MODERN Dermatology.
Giovonni Marquez, Lead Mohs MA
Giovonni is not only our lead medical assistant and resident sneaker aficionado here at MODERN Dermatology, but he is also a true expert in his field. With years of experience working as a medical assistant in dermatology, Giovonni has developed a deep understanding of the complexities and intricacies of the field. From assisting with medical procedures to providing compassionate care to patients, his dedication and skill are unmatched. Since starting his career in dermatology at the young age of 19, Giovonni has continuously grown and excelled in his role. Joining Dr. Thosani's team in 2020 has further expanded his knowledge and expertise, allowing him to provide top-notch service to our patients. His friendly demeanor and ability to connect with people make him a natural fit for his role as a medical assistant. When he's not busy caring for patients, Giovonni enjoys doing outdoor activities like camping, paddle boarding, and boating. He loves being in nature and making the most of his free time. He always wears sunscreen to protect his skin from the sun's harmful rays. Giovonni's girlfriend and dachshund, Oliver, often join him on his adventures, creating special memories.
Ashton Carson, MA
Ashton is a certified medical assistant with a passion for helping others and providing quality care to patients. She recently found her way back home to the beautiful state of Arizona after spending a few fulfilling years in the scenic landscapes of Oregon. As an outdoor enthusiast, she loves to embrace nature's wonders and enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing with her beloved family whenever the weather permits. When she's not busy with work or exploring the great outdoors, Ashton finds joy in spending time with her friends, embarking on off-road adventures in the captivating desert landscapes of Arizona. Additionally, she has a deep appreciation for the world of automobiles and takes pleasure in attending various car shows and car meets that the diverse car culture of Arizona has to offer. Whether she's administering medical care or finding exhilaration in both nature and cars, Ashton is always ready to embark on new adventures and create lasting memories.
Adrian Vega, MA
Adrian is an invaluable asset to our team at MODERN Dermatology, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise as our most holistic medical assistant and product guru. With a career in dermatology that spans over two decades, dating back to 1998, Adrian has accumulated an impressive breadth and depth of knowledge in the field. Not only does his extensive expertise in dermatology make him an indispensable resource, but his youthful glow is a testament to his dedication to skin care. In addition to his passion for skin care, he has a deep appreciation for holistic practices such as Reiki and meditation. He finds joy in music, dancing, and spending time with his husky, Nika. Adrian's devotion to his profession and personal well-being brings a unique perspective to MODERN Dermatology.
Kyaa Snodgrass, MA
Seattle born and raised, she made the brave decision to leave the rainy city behind and embrace the sun-soaked landscapes of the Sunshine State. After graduating from Pima Medical Institute in 2017, she found her true calling in the field of dermatology. With over six years of experience under her belt, she has established herself as an invaluable member of the team. As the biologic coordinator, she takes great pride in assisting patients in their journey to feel at ease in their own skin. Helping them navigate the path towards self-acceptance and confidence brings her immense joy. And amidst her busy schedule, she eagerly looks forward to embarking on outdoor adventures with her playful and energetic new puppy, creating lasting memories together in the sun-drenched paradise she now calls home.
Karen Servin, MA
Karen is not only the youngest member of our medical assistant team here at MODERN Dermatology, but she is also a true gem among us. Her youthful spirit is juxtaposed with an old soul that radiates an immense amount of compassion and empathy towards our patients. Perhaps that's why we affectionately call her Karebear – a nickname that perfectly encapsulates her warm and nurturing nature.
Beyond the walls of our clinic, Karen's cherishes moments with her family. From embarking on exciting trips together, to indulging in retail therapy, Karen finds solace and joy in the simple act of being surrounded by those she holds dear. And when the day comes to an end, you'll often find her cozied up on the couch, with her three fluffy dogs watching movies. She not only brings her bright smile and expert skills to our clinic, but also a genuine love for life that is contagious to all who have the pleasure of knowing her.
Danielle Moreno, MA
Danielle is not only a skilled and experienced medical assistant in dermatology, but she is also a loving and dedicated family person. With 16 years of dedicated service under her belt, Danielle's clinical expertise shines through in her everyday work. However, her passion for her family life is just as strong. She finds immense joy in the company of her husband, four children, and two lovable labradoodles. In their free time, the family enjoys exploring nature together, often venturing onto hiking trails for a serene escape from their busy lives. It is this perfect balance between professional proficiency and family warmth that truly sets Danielle apart in the dynamic realm of dermatology. Her exceptional skills, compassionate nature, and unwavering commitment make her an invaluable asset to our practice, driving us ever closer to our goal of enhancing the lives and restoring the confidence of all those who seek our care.
Jen LaPaglia, Front Desk
Jennifer is our amazing front desk and the unofficial "office mom". She has over 20 years of experience in multiple roles in the healthcare field. We are thrilled that she has brought her dazzling smile, contagious laughter, and joyous atmosphere to our office. Whether you are discussing your next appointment, raving about a new restaurant you have tried, or talking about your family -- you can’t help but feel welcome when you are dealing with Jennifer. When not at work she is learning interesting facts from her son, going to shows at Gammage with her daughter or sharing adventures with her husband Joe.
Maxine Brown, Front Desk
Put your roller skates on if you're trying to keep up with Maxine! In addition to working the front desk at our Shea office, she's also part of Scottsdale's vibrant food & beverage industry. But it doesn't stop there, she is a dedicated gym rat and owns a small business reselling vintage dresses. Maxine has 12 years of medical front office experience but has always had a love for aesthetics and makes sure to keep her toes in Dermatology. Like your favorite sitcom character that disappears during season one but returns middle of season three, Maxine has worked with some members of Modern Derm in the past. When she's not busy working a million jobs, Maxine enjoys spending time with her pets, sipping on margaritas, and nagging her younger coworkers about wearing SPF.
